boardgameBuilder

I have put a small tool online for designing board games. It is called boardgameBuilder.

You drag blocks onto a canvas. First, how you want the game to feel: tense, clever, together, sneaky. Then the parts of the game: the core mechanic, how you win, how players deal with each other, luck and skill, the theme, and what is hidden. Press Iterate and it tells you what that combination tends to produce, the trade-offs, and whether the blocks serve the feeling you asked for. Change a block, press again, and see what moved.

This week I added blocks for serious games, the kind that model a real problem: a shared resource, roles for the groups involved, effects that arrive late, trying out a rule, and a debrief after play.

No AI runs inside it. The readings come from a fixed knowledge base, so the same blocks always give the same answer. It is free and needs no login.

It is new, and parts of the knowledge base are still a first draft. I would like people to try it and tell me where a reading is wrong or something is missing: students, teachers, game designers, anyone who has made a game on paper.
